CITY OF LOS ANGELES DEPUTY GRADING INSPECTORS (LADGI)
Licensed City of Los Angeles Deputy Grading Inspectors (LADGI) are certified professionals authorized by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) to oversee various types of geotechnical engineering operations on construction sites within the city. Their primary role is to ensure that the contractor’s work complies with approved plans, city codes, and applicable safety and engineering standards.
LADGIs document daily progress, and coordinate with geotechnical engineers and city officials to address any deviations or concerns. Their due diligence oversight helps promote sound engineering decisions, ensuring safe and code-compliant site development across Los Angeles.
- Geotechnical Soils Report & Plan interpretation/implementation
- Caisson, pier & pile observations/inspections for shoring applications
- Lithologic determinations of various geologic units encountered during pile drilling in determining embedment criteria for plan Pile Schedules
- Shoring lagging & slurry observation & inspection
- Shoring tie-back drilling observation & anchor testing
- Footing & trench bottom verification
- Property line slot-cut observation & testing
- For LA City Designated Hillside Projects “Complete” grading oversight from pre-construction to initial grading phase (over excavation/cut-fill) & compaction testing by both nuclear gauge & sand-cone
- Temporary slope & setback determination
- Back/Sub-drain observation
- Import/Export truck hauling per traffic plans
- Erosion Control Plan field implementation
- Communication & interaction with City Deputy Grading Inspectors
- City code enforcement
